11 Months!

Little Mackenzie turned 11 months last week. or, well, 10 days ago now. 11 Months people.

11 MONTHS!!

In less than 3 weeks she's going to be 1. Deeep breath. My little doodle is growing up. (I've been calling her monkey doodle, then realized that I call Austin Monkey, so I figured I would just call her doodle. Doesn't always stick and she's still monkey doodle more often then not. But anyways.....)

I actually got 11 month pics on the 11th month day!!! yahoo!

I can't believe she is turning 1 so soon!!!

So, I had saved this post as a draft and kept forgetting to come back and publish. lol. We are now 10 days out from her 1st birthday. Let's not get me started on that. *sob*

Ho-ly Crap.

I'm making 2013 my bitch.

I just signed up for a 5k.
Run.
Yes, Run.

 holy shit.

Run.

5k.

Ok, so the last 5k I did I was pregnant and not training or working out. Yes, I walked it and finished it.  But..... I barely made it.

I am pushing on, and I'm going to do this 5k.

I'm doing the Color Me Rad 5k.

I am so excited. SO excited. I've been hitting the gym 2-3 times a week for the past 5 weeks. I've started doing Fab Ab February. I found it on Pinterest and just re-made a calender for 2013 and just kept at it. I'm 9 days in. How I'm going to make it to the end of the month? I have no idea. I'm having a hard time keeping up a 30 second plank. How the mother-eff am I supposed to do 2 minutes? I'm just trying to keep it up one day at a time. (Plus I keep telling myself that I have a bridesmaid dress to fit into in May! lol)

So here's to kicking my large butt in 2013. Let's do this!

Dear Husband

Your baby? Is a one woman effing comedy act. Sigh.

So, she loves getting up at night and thinking "woo! I'm done my nap! let's go!" But, it's the middle of the night and I don't think the same.

Today, Dave's dad flew in from Ontario for a visit. So I thought maybe I would try to calm her down and get her back to sleep right away instead of letting her fuss for a few minutes.

So, bedtime went fantastic. Like normal, come 11ish, she starts fussing. I give her a bottle, she's back asleep. Then? Then, 11:30 hit. She started crying. I went in to calm her down. She calmed down, I left the room to wash out her poo-splosion clothes from today, she cries again. I go back in. Calm her down, and think. I'm going to sit down and in the rocker quietly and watch and see what she is doing.

Turns out, she's not crying so much for me.

Nope.

I just sat there wishing I had taken the video camera in with me.

So, I sit and watch and think. My daughter is an effing comedian. Except this isn't funny. I want to go to sleep. But it is kind of funny.

Let me set the scene: her lulaby panda is emitting an orange light. Her Fisher Price aquarium is going on the whooshing sound of the ocean setting, casting a blue light on her crib. (This is why she can't really tell I'm still there but I can see her.)

She thinks I'm gone. I hear the crinkle of her crib as she rolls to one side, rolls to the other, rolls again. Then, pop! Up comes her head. She has a soother in one hand. A second soother in the other. I imagine this is dialogue going on in her head based on her face.

"oh, Hi soother, how you doin?"
"oooh look, my other soother!"
"Soother A, get in my mouth."
"oh hell soother B, you get in there too."
"What do you mean you both don't fit. Fine. I'll take turns"
"soother A, your turn."
"Switch time! Soother B, your turn."
"oh soother A, you're so funny."
(BTW, I totally had this image)

"Switch, switch, switch, Squee!! look a fishie in the Aquarium!"
"Soother B, lets go look. Isn't it so pretty?"
Then, she accidentally hits the button shutting the aquarium off, sending her into a panic, dropping soother I-can't-see-anymore, causing her to cry.

See, she doesn't want me. So, Fisher Price must have known this moment would happen..... so I grabbed the remote off the door handle and turned aquarium back on. Walk over to her crib, lay her down, give her her blanket and soother and pretend to leave the room again. Sit back down.

Roll, roll, roll, pop! up comes her head. But this time she rolled her blanket onto her head. She doesn't like things on her head. She can't get it off. She's pulling the blanket but it's the wrong way, she's just pulling more blanket onto her. Then she's flailing all around trying to get the damn blanket off. Finally she does.

"oh hello again soother. I missed you so. It went dark then I lost you. Were you scared?"
"look, other soother is here to visit again!"
***Repeat convo above about only one soother fitting in her mouth and taking turns....***
"Hey soother, let's pretend we're in the movies! I'll stand up and dangle you over the edge of the crib, see if it's funny"
Obviously soother agreed because that's just what she did. Then, just like dejavu, a little squeel as she looks at the aquarium and steps over to it. Shuts it off by mistake. Turns it back on. Shuts it off, turns it on. The look on her face is one of "OmgWtfBbq" Shuts it off, takes soother and soother and lays down. I wait for her to be quiet for a few min before I sneak out.

I was in there for an hour. Holy moley. And the whole time thinking this is freaking hilarious. Or do I find it funny because I'm so tired? Or am I just so delusional I think this funny?

And obviously I think it's pretty funny since I just stayed awake an extra 20 min to type it all up. But seriously. One woman comedy show that one is.

Go Team Go!!

In Team Canada spirit I just had to buy these onesies when I saw them at Winners. And as a perfect accessory I stopped at fabricland and bought stuff to make a tutu to match. Black and gold (since they had no red in stock, and gold because Team Canada was going to win gold!!!)

So without further ado, Here is Mackenzie's version of Team Canada's IIHF World Juniors journey

OMG yay! It's hockey Time. Go Canada Go! We're going to win! Yay Yay Yay!

Ooh, nice shot!

What was that call all about?!?!

Hello in there? Did you even come to play?

No gold? Fine, I'll go play over here instead.

Take me out to the ball game.....

We are Toronto fans in this house. Growing up my dad was a Toronto fan so I was used to listening and watching Blue Jays games. Actually, my dad is still a big Blue Jays fan. He has the trading cards, the memorabilia, the tattoo, (yes, a tattoo) jewelry, and even Blue Jays licence plates.

Dave's family is also a Blue Jays family. They may also be hiding a Blue Jays tattoo somewhere but I'm not so sure about that. Austin's first Christmas Uncle Brian ordered a Blue Jays outfit for him. I believe it came after Christmas. So Austin was about 3 months old. The outfit was ordered in a size 12 months, because, well, Austin was a huge baby.

That outfit? Was no 12 months. It didn't fit him. As I was going through Mackenzie's clothes I found that outfit and thought, damn we better get a pic of her in this before she's too big for it too. I think I waited about 2 months too long for that because I had to squeeze her in.

I mean look at how tiny that is on her!!

I thought it would be a good idea for Austin to put his jersey on. (This is his third Blue Jays jersey/shirt if you count the one Mackenzie is wearing) Of course I had to get some pictures. What a cute Old School and New logo pic.

The 4th Birthday

Finally I have everything uploaded!!! yay! whew!

This years birthday was a Mario theme. I had a blast with this!

 Without further ado; Decorations!!!

 the tables!

Yes, this happened. A whole wall mural. That stayed up for about 15 mintues before it fell down. sigh. I even had clouds and a whole under the pipes scene planned out but gave up on it when I realized the mural wasn't going to stay up

I had forgotten the Boos at home so Lindsay and Stephanie went to get them for us. I had to snap a pic of them walking from our house to the hall with them. That person in the truck was probably wondering wtf they were doing.

My husband trying to hang the boos

The Birthday Banner

And this was for a bowling game, however we forgot to pick up a ball that wasn't frozen in our backyard. So the kids just used them as toys.

The food!

These were delicious. So so delicious.

I found the idea here, well i found it on pinterest then travelled over to Cute as a Fox and fell in love.
These were so super easy to make. I dipped 2 bite brownies into red melting chocolate. Put white dots on. Then put the marshmallow on a stick, drew the eyes, added to mushroom cap and tada!!! Now, to make it look more cohesive I dipped the whole cap in the red chocolate. 1.- You couldn't tell the bottom had the chocolate on it so it was a waste. 2.- In order to get the coffee stick into the mushroom cap I had to take a steak knife to the chocolate and cut a slit so I could get the stick to go in. Save yourself the trouble and only chocolate the top of the brownie.

I am missing some more pictures, until I find them, I will just have to tell you about them. In the entrance way for the hall I made a gold coin garland hanging down to walk through.

Other food included: rainbow gum balls, rainbow goldfish, rainbow licorice, Mario gummies, mario hard candies, rainbow colored suckers, gold coin crackers, veggie tray and chips.

For the drinks I wanted to make drink signs out of authentic Mario backgrounds. I think they turned out fantastic!

We also had Diet Kart Fuel

And let them eat cake!!

I originally wanted a fancy fondant cake but lost track of time. So then we were going to go with ice cream cake but for some reason Dairy Queen didn't have any available.

I did the next best thing. I went to safeway and looked through their cake book. There are not many places with a Mario anything cake. So I noticed this cake. It's originally a Lightning Mcqueen cake. I asked if they could make me the cake without the figurines. The lady was so nice and said of course! I went to walmart and found a set of 5 Mario Karts. I don't think I could have gotten this cake to turn out any better.

Party on!

Someone had her first taste of cake

And I'd say she liked it.
