Oh what a summer!

This has been written for a while and I just forgot to post it. Without further ado - a review of our summer.

It's been quite the summer! We had such a blast this summer

First,
My cousin Ashley came for the summer

And a downside
I got hand foot mouth disease. That aside.....

The kids had a blast playing at some splash pads

And don't forget the slip and slide in the back yard!

Most exciting - we bought a trailer! Every time Dave was home from work we would go camping. It was quite the fun experience

Also, we went camping a few times near a beach so of course we had to hit it up!!!

We also took Ashley to jasper to see the mountains. It was such a fun weekend!

Austin had a blast throwing rocks in the water with his friend Mila

And we got to witness this: big horned sheep eating a truck. The guy jumped out to take a picture of all the sheep, left his door open, and this sheep thought he would check it out and have a snack. I said its a good thing we shut our doors, or we would never get them out of the van with the amount of goldfish crackers in the backseat.

Lets not forget our trip to calgary. I went down to do the color me rad 5k. We brought the whole family with us. I had a blast
This was my heck yeah I finished the race face. It was a little touch and go for a bit.
And probably my most favourite picture ever.

While we were in calgary we went and checked out the zoo. They had pictures of all the flooding they sustained. I had no idea that half the zoo was on an island! Obviously it being only a month after the flooding the part of the zoo on the island was still closed. They were saying it will take up to 5 years and close to 5 million dollars to recover from the flood. So crazy.

Austin loved the penguins! He would have sat there all day watching them.

Also, this picture is of their penguin who had an infection in his foot and it was being rubbed raw. They ordered him special penguin booties to prevent that, but they didn't fit. So, they improvised using beer cozies. You can see one foot cozied in the picture. How cute is that.

Overall the kids had a blast this summer I'm sure, and I even had a pretty good time too.

The fair!!

This past weekend we went to the fair! Reminded me of going to the Lindsay ex and the orono fair. Oh the days.

But anyways, the day started out nice, then the storm rolled in. It.was.crazy. If you looked up at the sky you could actually see the clouds swirling. Off for cover we went. I managed to get 2 pictures before the storm:

Finally about 7 it was still raining so we left to get dinner. Finally the rain cleared so we went back. We played games, watched some chuck wagon races, (holy crap they are crazy!) and finished the night with some fireworks.

I love this after the rain shot, it's so pretty!

I wore Mackenzie in my MonkeyWrap and she loved it. She also was in awe of the lights.

Product review - Safety Tats

This is something I wasn't paid for or told to write. I won a 3-pack from a blog review and thought hmm, I'll try it out. I will note that this post has been a year in the making. lol. I used the first one last year and kept meaning to write about it. We're using the second one today and I thought I would write it out now before I forget.

Last year as well as today we're headed to Capital Ex. It's a big fair/amusement thing with bands and kids entertainment. Last year was the first time I used the Safety Tat and I was amazed. It's so easy to put on and Austin really didn't mind wearing it! Today I pulled it out and he was excited to have one put on. I think we need to start going places with crowds more often if this is the second time in a year we've needed one. lol.

Basically it's a tattoo the kids can wear that comes with a marker for you to write you phone number on if the child gets lost. The package says it lasts up to 2 weeks, I only left it on for a week last time then removed it, but the phone number was still clear as day! (even after baths and showers!)

You basically wipe the child's arm with an alcohol wipe (included) and press the tattoo onto the arm. Peel the front off and Tada!!!

You write the phone number onto the Tattoo and away you go. Please, don't mind the writing, Austin was so excited about his new tattoo he wouldn't leave his arm still and it looks like he wrote my phone number himself. sigh. The best part is last year when we went to Capital Ex the Edmonton Police had something like sticky notes for parents to write their number on and put on your kid in case they get lost. They didn't seem all that secure on the kids, especially with riding rides and playing games. I knew with Austin there was no way his was coming off and it was bright enough to notice it.

The packaging (at least the one I got) Also included some great tips for going out into a crowded area.

So, yes I got these for free from another blog giveaway, but I was blown away with the awesome-ness that I thought I would share this product with you guys.
