The time goes by

It's funny how just one moment sends you through a million memories.

This picture here. Was my moment.

Sure, it seems like nothing much. A kid looking in a door. It's just so much more. See, this deck, it's my dad's back deck. Right about where I'm standing to take the picture was where this seemingly big kid crawled for the first time. We had just finished a babyville class and our friend came back to my dad's with us. We sat the kids on a huge blanket on the deck and chatted away. Then Austin was up on his knees and crawled across the blanket. Just like that. It was almost a blink and miss it kind of thing he did it so fast. Now, 3 years (and a bit) later seeing this image filled me with all the memories of him growing up.

I can't believe how big he's gotten.

To the dentist!

I FINALLY took Austin to the dentist. Yes, I know. Took long enough. Sigh. I just couldn't get over my anxiety enough to take him. Then I got a toothache and since I was on the phone I just made the appointment. He was awesome.

Sat down,

Got his special sun glasses on for the lights.

And got his teeth checked!!

Dr reported his teeth looked good and said to come back in about 6 months.

Then he played with the giant toothbrush and teeth until Daddy's appointment was over!

3 months old

My baby girl is now 3 months old. She's babbling and smiling now. She is pulling her head and shoulders off the ground to try and sit up. I think in the next few days she's going to find her 2 newest playthings - her feet. She's been grabbing at her knees so I know the feet are next. She has also started chewing on her hands and will grab at toys on her play mat.

But that smile. Oh the smile just melts my heart every time.

Here she is trying to sit up. Shortly after she succeeded and rolled forwards. lol.

14 weeks

It took me 14 weeks before I had to start sleeping with a pillow between my knees. I really thought it would have taken longer, but everything happens sooner with 2nd kids. If I have the bed to myself and can spread out I don't need the pillow, but with Dave home, I'm using the pillow.

Also happened at 14 weeks?? I felt my first for sure kick. I had been wondering about some movement going on in my stomach for a while but there was no doubt about it Wednesday evening.(14wk1d) This excited me so much. I can't wait to just sit and watch my belly do odd things. Maybe even watch baby with the hiccups. (and yes, you can tell.)

I head to Ontario on Tuesday to visit for a while and will probably be having my big ultrasound there. While Dave won't be with me for the ultrasound (or at least it will be very unlikely) I think I'm going to do some sort of gender reveal and wait until we can both find out together. We will see what happens.

Woah Busy.

I want to start off by saying a big Huge massive thank you to my In Laws. This past week has been super busy, but It's all necessary. We've been getting the house organized and de-cluttered and cleaning out a lot of crap that we probably should have gotten rid of before but didn't. My In-laws have been helping to get rid of a lot of the crap and making our house look amazing. It's pretty much all ready to go onto the market, and I spoke with our REA today and he is going to come over on friday. I'm getting excited to start everything in motion and start this new beginning.

Dave made it to Alberta. He left Friday morning and got to Edmonton on Sunday afternoon. He hung out with a friend for the afternoon and checked out their new place, fell in love with another place, possibly for us. Monday he went and got the details on his new job, which thankfully is a camp job which means his room and board is covered so until our house sells we don't have to pay for rent and a mortgage.

Austin is still amazing me more and more everyday. I think with me working nights I've been missing quite a bit. I would love to keep him at home with me during the days but I can never sleep at night no matter how much or how little sleep I get the day before, and usually get an average of 3 or 4 hours sleep before I'm up with austin. Therefore he goes to daycare and I get to sleep a little longer so I don't pass out on my desk at work. He helps me with diaper changes by wiping himself (it's definately far from actually clean though) and he is always saying pee pee while grabbing himself. Not sure if he knows it's his pee pee or if he knows he pees in his diaper. He helps get dressed and undressed too. He can take his pants off and put them on and pull them up in the front, hasn't quite figured out he needs to pull the back of his pants up too. He can walk down the stairs. He grabs the railing and goes. Nearly gave me a heart attack the first time he did it, then Dave informed me that he taught him that. Yeah, maybe not the best age to be teaching that one. lol.

Austin is also listening better. If I tell him no or ask him to put something back or away he will do it. He also counts. To the untrained ear though he's just babbling, but it started when we would jump and started jumping in the pool. I would say "ready? 1....2......3!!!!" Now he stands still and in the same tone says 3 words (which I try to remember to record every time he says them and keep forgetting! but one of them is deee) then jumps. I've had to warn everyone that if he is near a pool or somewhere he shouldn't be jumping (like the couch) then to stop him before he hits 3. He has no fear and will do it - especially the pool! We were teaching him he needed to wait for someone to be there when he jumps in the water on the weekend, and thankfuly he is never in the pool unattended. Also, if you are trying to get him to go somewhere just say "on your marks, get set, go!!" and he will pause for 2 seconds then take off running. He's definately a sporty little guy. We just have to remember which ones he responds to, becuase saying on your marks get set go while trying to get him to jump just doesn't work out. Although some days you don't even need to prompt him! this is the video of him in his new big boy bed taken in June.

Another thing my lovely husband taught our son, is how to pillow fight. Thankfully Austin isn't that strong but I'm going to say some day it's going to come back to bite us in the rear. He will pick up the pillow and either smoosh it into you (usually the face) or just throw it at you. It's really adorable now, but I try not to let it happen too much. lol.

well, I've got ot try and get some sleep. I hope to update more soon!

Long time gone.

Well hello again.

I've been busy with work. I've finished my training class and now I am in "abay" which is on the phones but I have to reach certain goals before I can move on to regular work (which for me is better schedules) and for the rest of the people in my class it means a raise. The schedule sucks big time. We have sunday monday off which is fine, but we are working 1:30-10:30 and then saturday shifts usually start and end later. This shift is making child care arrangements a little difficult. It's not like I can just not worry because Dave will be home to watch him all night. I have to get someone to either take Austin for the night or hang out at my house until I'm done work. It sucks.

Friday night after work some of us from our training class went out to boston Pizza afterwards to have a drink. Austin was spending the night at Grandma and Grandpa R's so I went along. It was fun, we chatted, enjoyed some food (mmmm nachos!) then I got home around 1am. Last night Austin had another sleepover at Grandma and Grandpa R's. Because I didn't have to rush home to relieve a babysitter I went with a classmate to the car wash. They had left a cooler in the back of their car full of water and a few left over beer and it tipped over and created puddles in the back. We went and used the wet vaccuum and spent 2 hours trying to get the water out of the back of the car. I got home around 2:30. I slept in through church this morning because I was a little tired so I figured I should update here a bit then get moving since church is over soon.

Austin turned 10 months old last weekend..... And got baby measles (aka Roseola) He broke out in spots sunday morning. His 10 month old pictures are coming. They were taken very late unfortunately. Sunday we were dealing with all the spots and the dr's then we had to pick Dave up from the airport. Monday was a busy day complete with my first day of night school. Tuesday and wednesday we were out of town at a funeral and thursday I was back to work and dave was back to the airport. I finally got the pictures taken yesterday but he didn't really have a lot of spots left.

We still have no teeth, and still have very little hair. Maybe he will have some hair by his second birthday.. lol. Austin is getting closer and closer to walking. I went to put him in the bath last week and when I put him on the floor in the bathroom he stayed crouched down, picked up his bath toys then stood himself up and stood there for a good 2 minutes while I got his bath stuff ready. Once I turned the water on though he grabbed the tub and tried to look in. He is also starting to take a few steps while holding on to only one hand instead of freezing up as soon as you let go of one of his hands. He has mastered closing things. He has a pop up toy at Dave's parents and he won't push the buttons to make the animals pop up but he loves to put the lids back down. And, He loves cupboards. He will sit and open and close cupboards for ever. Unfortunately the closing ends up as slamming and it gets pretty noisy. If there is something bothering him or in his way he pushes it out of his way, and he can turn pages in books (and also rip pages out of magazines instead of turning them.) He will lay in his crib on his back just waiting for his blanket, then he will take the blanket in his arms, roll over and go to sleep. He melts my heart every day, even when he's crying and won't settle down at 1am. He is saying Dada, we are trying to get him to connect dada with Dave. I think it's working a little but he still says it for a lot of things. He says mama as well, but I find he usually only says it while crying. I'm not sure if he's connected me as his mama and is calling for me or if he's just saying it while crying. A funny thing happened a while ago, I was trying to get him to say mama and I said to him "Can you say mama? I'm your mama" and he just shook his head no after the I'm your mama part. It was cute and funny.
