On Monday Austin finally got his turn in Goal. He seemed to like it.
I was cheering him on and reminding...er yelling to keep his eye on the ball and stop it.
And he did.
And I cheered like a mad woman.
And he turned to look at me with a smile that said "hey mommy, check it out!
Then my heart melted at his excitement.
Then I broke my chair. True story. lol.

That time of the year
Sigh. I like the warmer weather. But one thing that happens? sandals. Every other week or so I take Austin to a play land (McDonalds or burger king around here) so he can run around and exert some energy.
Now, I realize these play places are full of germs. However, on the front of every play place it says "socks must be worn" (or some variation) yet every summer, the play places are filled with bare footed kids.
Drives.me.insane.
It's not that hard to keep a pair of socks in the car/purse/diaper bag. If I have forgotten them, sorry austin, no playing for you.
I get that businesses don't want to lose customers because they say their kids can't play. At least McDonalds sells socks. I really wish more people would put socks in their kids and if they don't, someone from the store stop the kids from playing.
Last week we went to McDonalds to play and not even thinking while I was in the line to pay I told Austin he could go ahead and play. He was wearing sandals and I had his socks. The woman changing the garbage actually asked him where his socks were. Now, she didn't physically stop him from playing and he ran into the play area anyways, but she also came out to me and said "excuse me, do you have a little boy with a blue shirt on? He doesn't have socks to play in." I appreciated her saying something. I went and told him to come out of the play area and put his socks on. I reminded him he needs socks on to play (because we have had some instances of taking his socks off inside the play area before) and away he went.
If businesses were a little more aware of their play areas it would be good. But, they are not so until then I will try not to bitch slap anyone in a fit of frustration.

Happy Victoria Day!
Just a quick post to say Happy Victoria Day! I hope everyone had a great long weekend.
We're currently laying in bed. Austin is watching a leapfrog Alphabet video on the iPad, I'm on the laptop and Mackenzie is sleeping. A great way to spend the day!
In case anyone was wondering about the video, it's Leapfrog Phonics Farm.
Such an awesome video! It goes through each of the letters and tells the kids what sound each letter makes and shows animals and actions that start with that letter. Austin is currently tracing the letters as they pop up on the screen. Plus, they go over all the letters at the end with a song. Austin found it on netflix if you want to check it out for your kids!

Emergency Preparedness Week
That was last week, (or maybe this week....) and the firehall down the street had an open house. I had actually forgotten about it until I heard sirens outside my house and looked out to see 2 firemen and Sparky standing in the back of the truck telling everyone to come down. I loaded the kids up and away we went.
Austin loved it. Every time we drive past the firehall he announces whether the trucks are out or not. Imagine his excitement as we got closer and the trucks were out. Now imagine his excitement when the super young fireman (I think he had to be in training. Was barely out of highschool!) let him sit in the truck.
A very blurry shot of Sparky. Austin kept calling him Sam. I couldn't figure out why. Finally he told me that he was like his Sam at home. Apparently Austin named his stuffed dalmation Sam. I had to explain that this doggie was actually Sparky but he was having none of it. Even when another kid would call out to Sparky Austin would get mad and say "No! Sam!" Sigh.

I know, he doesn't look that excited, but I promise, he is.
They had a bunch of free goodies for the kids, a bbq, and all the fire equipment on display. Austin could have cared less. He just wanted to play with the trucks.
In the passenger seat.
Hanging out in the back!

2 Months old!
Alright so I'm over a week late posting this, but hey, it's here ok?
What would a 2 month old post be without some cute pictures. Here is the "whoop whoop I made it 2 months and my brother hasn't seriously injured me yet" picture. (seriously, childhood playing is top of my injury worry list when it comes to a rambuncious pre-schooler and a newborn baby.)
At her appt for her shots she was 23 inches long, and coming in a whopping 12lbs 9oz. She is in the 90th percentile for weight and 75th percentile for height and head circumference.

Raise the roof!

Look at this smile. Seriously. I just want to snuggle her all day.
Mackenzie is such a happy baby. If she goes too long between sleeps she gets super cranky though. She's at the point where she is trying to stay up more but still needs more sleep. She absolutely loves the ceiling fan. She could be crying and fussing but lay her on our bed and she will stare at the fan and coo. It's so cute! She also loves her mobiles. There is one on the swing she will stare at, and now that she's in her crib she will lay and coo at the one in her room instead of nap.
So, here is short video of her cooing at the fan. Then she gets the hiccups. (like always)
And finally, here is a little comparison of Austin at 2 months and Mackenzie at 2 months.
(also note how I had way more time on my hands with his 2 month old sign. lol)
