Sleep at night?

Dear sleep. When it's night time, why do you disappear??? I am working from 4:30 to midnight. I get home and I'm wide awake. 3am comes and I'm still awake. Stupid sleep. I finally get to sleep and then I'm up with Austin because, well he can't be quiet in the mornings...lol. Thankfully Austin is in daycare so I can get some sleep during the day before work. I know that some people would say, if you just skip the sleep during the day, go to sleep by 1, you can get quite a few hours of sleep and would be tired when you get hom from work. Nope, doesn't work that way. I sit at work fighting to keep my eyes open with all my might... until 11pm. Then, the second wind hits. And I am awake. I come home and stay awake until 3 again. BAH!!! I just deal with my schedule the way it is. However tomorrow I have a breakfast date with my most favoritest bestest friend in the world and I know I'm going to be tired. However, I am super excited to see Robin since he's been in BC since August.

Austin has been doing pretty good with his big boy bed. I'm not here for bedtimes so I don't know exactly how well it's been going. Sunday night though he kept getting out of his bed and standing at the stairs. (there is a gate across the stairs) I thought that he had finally gone to sleep, he was quiet and there was no movement noises coming through the monitor. I go to the stairs because I'm heading up to grab something and he's sitting on the floor looking out the panel of the gate. Kind of scared me. lol. I get to the top of the stairs and he is smiling at me. I told him it's bed time and made him walk back into his room and climb back into his bed. every time I closed the door he would get right back up so I left the door open and stood at the door. After less then 5 minutes he was asleep. We will have to put a gate across his bedroom door if he doesn't start staying in bed at night, but I think we will leave it for now, hoping that it's just a novelty that he keeps getting out of bed.

Middle of the night wakings we have only had one. It was last night. again I was downstairs not sleeping. I heard Austin cough over the monitor and what I thought was him rolling over in bed. Nope, it was him getting out of bed. (we have the fan on in his room which is closer to the monitor then his bed so it drowns out some of the noises) all of a sudden my cell phone goes off. Thinking who the eff is messaging me at 2:40 am, I check the message. It was Dave. It said "Austin is awake. He just paid me a visit and poked me in the eye" I almost couldn't get up I was laughing so hard. Dave thought he heard a noise in the bedroom and he sat up but couldn't see anything. Austin was there and dave sitting up must have said "hey austin, come wake me up." so Austin made his way to dave's side of the bed and woke him up the best way a son can wake his daddy by poking him in the eye. *I say best way for a son to wake up his daddy because I don't think I would find the humour in being poked in the eye myself while sleeping.*

This weekend is Brian and Korrinne's Jack and Jill. We have been busy planning and I am actually so excited! I really wish I could win all the prizes because there are some really awesome prizes. I don't think we have enough money to buy enough tickets to guarantee us a win. lol. I can't wait for everything to fall into place and everyone will have the night of their lives!!!!

Adventures in Father's day.

I was a little behind on my father's day planning, I will admit that. I didn't finally decide what Austin's gift to his daddy was going to be until yesterday. That being said, I woke up this morning with a plan and a vision of how today was going to go. This is how my day was supposed to go. Dave was gone to church and Austin and I stayed home. Around 8:30 we leave and go to michaels to buy a tshirt and some fabric paint. While we were out we would stop at Children's place since they were having a 50% off sale today. Get home, make daddy an awesome tshirt that includes some hand prints, maybe foot prints. wash up, daddy comes home, loves his shirt, Austin goes down for a nap. Do something fun, bake the perfect father's day cake using my cake decorating tips I got for mother's day, start the roast, have the in Laws over, have a fun night with lots of pictures.

Well, this is what happened.

We got up and were ready to go at 8:30am. Then I realize that it's actually sunday and stores don't open that early. I go online to check the times, michaels opens at 10. Ok, so we play for a bit then head to children's place first since I figure with a 50% off sale there may be a bit of a crowd. Get there and there is no one there, because the store doesn't open till 11. Off to Michaels first then. Get to michaels and analyze over what color shirt to buy, what color paint to buy etc etc etc. Got the stuff on sale, white shirt. Austin poops. Smells SOOOOOOO bad that I can't even push him in the cart without wanting to gag so I pull him along in the cart. Have to wait in a line (of course!) while the ladies behind us in line have obviously smelled my son as well and they are keeping a more then normal cash register line up space between us. Get outside and change him in the truck. By this time it's 10:55 so we head back to Children's place.

At some point in the morning I've realized that dave took the stroller in my car to church. No problem, right? WRONG. I don't know what Children's place pumps into their air, but every time we go in there my son runs. Runs in circles around racks giggling, laughing, and yes, screetching. Yes ladies and gents, I was THAT mom today. Because I had a choice. let him scream with joy or have a complete meltdown because I won't let him run. I actually chose a small amount of both. Grab him and attempt to hold him while he's screaming in my ear and wiggling out of my grasp. have 3 seconds of silence before he takes off runing again deliriously happy. I know what I want, we need t-shirts. I hit up the collared shirts, then hit up the regular tshirts. I am throwing stuff into a random pile I've started in between running after Austin. Basically if I see a 3T or 4T it goes into the pile. at $4.50 for the collared shirts you can't go wrong. Getting ready to go and this familiar disgusting smell hits my nose. Yup, he pooped again. Of course I didn't believe it was him so I had to check. It was so bad that I was afraid of one fall on his bum and everything was coming out. Again, I quickly rush through the cash, but this time I'm trying to hold onto him, without putting him on the counter because of my fear of the poosplosion, which is causing him to wiggle and scream. Go out to the truck and change him again. Again, such a horrible smell I want to throw up. Decide to go home.

Austin passed out cold on the way home, and we pull in at the same time as Dave. My plan for getting the shirt done before nap is gone because A) austin is sleeping, and b) I have to pre-wash the shirt first. Put austin down, start a load of laundry, clean up our room. Austin get up from his nap and I tell Dave he's been banned to the living room while we work on the t-shirt. Does.Not.Go.Well. I want to write "I have the world's best dad" then put Austin's hand prints, then below write "hands down." To start, the fabric paint marker I bought sucked. I try bribing Austin to stay in the kitchen with me by fruit snacks. he's not going for it. Dave takes him in the living room. He's not going for that either so dave puts on Treehouse. He's happy. And of course this is the time I need him for the hand prints. He screams when I get him to leave the living room. Once I have the paintbrush and paint out though he is loving it. we got blue handprints done and I'm getting the green pain ready and he starts playing with the paint. takes the lid off and tries to paint his legs. Thankfully i stopped him in time. Then as I am writing out the hands down part he pulls out the gigantic medieval times glass that dave got and while talking into it he drops it and it shatters. Dave was outside so he had no idea what happened. I'm trying to calm a scared crying child, while trying to get him to stay out of the glass and get it cleaned up.

Oh what a day. The shirt is really cute though and I think Dave likes it. Unfortunately it was such a scattered day that I got no pictures today. i'm not even sure where my camera is. Anyways I am off to bed now. Hope everyone had a great father's day!!

Big Boy bed again.

I am so excited. After last week of Austin being cramped in his crib and the next few weekends being super busy I thought it would be best if we set up the big boy bed.

Friday we went into the bedroom. I've just been stacking the clothes that are too big in the corner. I've tossed the clothes that are too small in another corner. Toys everywhere. There were even a few boxes from our old office sitting in there. We cleaned out the closet. The infant bathtub and the bassinet went downstairs to go to the garage for storage. we put the clothes away, moved the clothes out. We moved the crib in front of the closet, hoping that he wouldn't completely freak out that his crib was in a new place and would accept the bed. I also thought that if we did have issues with the bed the crib could stay in the room for the next few weeks so that he would have the choice if he really didn't want to sleep in his bed. Now we were left with a big empty space in his room. What did I do??

I sat down and cried. My little baby boy is getting so big now. He's talking and walking and amazing me with his smartness every day. (he can point out his belly button, eyes, ears, nose, mouth and head) I remember the weeks and months leading up to his birth. I remember excitedly getting the crib out of the box and assembling it. Washing his crib set and putting the crib skirt on, the new mattress on, the cute rainforest animal sheet on the mattress, then the comfortor and the bumper pads. In his crib was his 2008 commemorative pooh bear and a giraffe. The rainforest mobile was hanging in anticipation of use. Everything was clean and new. It was a new beginning and anything was possible. We had an idea of what our life would be in the future but we weren't sure. There were nerves and excitement.

Then in 15 minutes all that was gone. The crib was taken apart. See, we got the 4 parts to the bed in the room, put the headboard and the sides on, then realized that we would either have no footboard/hood to the car or we would have to take the crib apart and take it out of the room. So now it's leaning against the wall in our spare bedroom.

The car definately takes up more room then I thought it would. There isn't much room left. we are going to do some rearranging soon. We will need to. The good news is that he can probably sleep in the car bed for a good 4 or more years. Unless he grows gigantically tall by his 5th birthday.

After the bed was set up (and Austin spent a good 20 mintues playing and jumping on the bed) we were off to walmart. We still had a gift card from christmas that Austin got from his GG so we thought new sheets for his new bed would be a cool gift. I was told there were Cars sheets there so we went to check them out. wow. expensive. Wasn't in our budget. So, we kept looking. We ended up buying a nice blue cotton jersey set and a striped blue light-weight comforter to match. All for $34. As I'm making the bed I realize that the sheets match the dark blue on the walls so it works out great!

I get everything washed and make the bed. We put austin down in bed and go to leave the room. He cries, Dave tells him it's ok, go to sleep. He lays down... and is out in minutes. didn't hear a peep from him all night. I got up early to have a shower before we left for guelph and went in to cover him back up. He lifts his head and looks at me when I do that. I tell him it's ok, go back to sleep. And he does. Sleeps right through until 7:15 when he does his usual whining to come get him. I can't believe how well he has managed in his bed. I'm a little excited to see what this week will bring.

The only thing now is to resist the giant urge I have to crawl into bed with him and cuddle him all night.

*I was going to post pictures for you to enjoy, however they are taking their time uploading. I started uploading when I started writing. I'm not that fast at typing. Since it's 3am I will just have to refer you to my facebook page for pictures.*

Hello!!

Um yeah, I kind of suck at this updating thing. lol.

How about as a consolation I show you some awesome cuteness?

Getting ready for summer!

Meeting a horse up close and personal for the first time. He called it a cow. lol.
Playing with his new wagon Papa got him
This is how he winks. so adorable.
And finally, Austin loving his new big boy bed.
Speaking of the big boy bed though, I think we will be transitioning soon. He's runing out of room in his crib!! it's fine when he's all curled up into a ball, but if he stretches out there isn't much room left. This big boy bed fits a single mattress so it will definately fit him for years to come. We got it for a great deal at a yardsale. This bed is priced at aprox $400 and we got it for $50. I'm very happy with the deal we got. There are few little scratches in the bed but I think Austin will do much more damage. haha. I did feel a little bad though because as we were packing up the bed the previous occupant came and stood on the curb with the saddest look on his face that his car bed was being taken away. His mom assured him that another little boy would get to love it as much as he did. I still felt like a big meanie though.
I am diving into the planning of the Jack N Jill for Dave's brother, less than a month to go and it's lots of fun. I can't wait to get everything put together and enjoy the hawaiian themed night.
*101 in 1,001 update* Well, I've read a few books, House Rules by Jodi Piccoult, How to Teach filthy rich girls by Zoey Dean, No Strings Attached by Clare Dowling and I'm in the middle of Going it Alone by Clare Dowling. I may have some books before the Jodi Piccoult book that I haven't posted on here yet, I will have to go back and look. Dave and I had an awesome date night last week, dinner and a movie. It was really enjoyable, we went and saw Date night with Steve Carrell and Tina Fey, which also adds to my see at least one movie that starts with every letter of the alphabet. That list also needs to be updated, I'm not doing to well with all my lists!! haha.
