Wordless Wednesday

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

Well, I have some words, but it's probably not best to put them in writing in public. ;) lol to say this was a mess is an understatement. Plus our house is really dry right now. Dry = static = the foam balls stick to everything and refuse to come off.

The mom bath

Last night I had what is known as a mom bath. I got Austin into bed, ran hot water and bubbles, and settled nicely. He was nice and quiet in his room, so one would gather he was sleeping. Then...

Footsteps. He goes into our bedroom and says "mommy, me have more water? Mommy?" then he finds me in the bathroom. The following is what happened next.

A: what you doing mommy?

M: having a bath

A: a bath? *looks at me weird because I am just laying there*

M: yes buddy, a bath.

A: *picks up step stool* me watch you. *sits on step stool right beside the tub.*

M: no Austin, get a drink of water and go back to bed.

A: me watching you! You play my toy?

M: no, I don't need a t.... *he drops the toy in the bath* toy. Sigh.

A: you play with my toy! You play more?

M: mommy doesn't play in her bath.

A: look, a dolphin! *plop goes the dolphin in the tub*

M: just get your water and go to bed, mommy doesn't need toys.

A: duckie!! *in goes the duck*

M: stop putting toys in the...

A: turtle! *splash*

M: stop throwing toys in the tub, just go back to bed!

A: rabbit? *holds the rabbit up for me to decide*

M: no rabbit in the tub. Mommy doesn't play.

A: rabbit blast off! 1,2,3 blast off *blasts the rabbit off the side of the tub nearly landing it in the toilet.*

M: do not throw your toys in the toilet!!!! Time for you to blast off to bed. 1,2,3, blast off! *starts to leave with the rabbit* and leave the rabbit.

I then wash my hair, get out of the tub, take him the water he originally came in for, tucked him back into bed and told him to stay there.

So much for a peaceful bath. Sigh.

Oh kids

Seriously, my kid, and many other kids crack me up with some of the things they come up with.

I ask him something and lately his answer starts with "weeeeelllllllllllllll" like he's saying ok mom, I'll tell you but it's a long story. Seriously cracks me up.

And even though he's been saying it for a while, every time he calls the iPod the pock pock or tells me he's playing wing wing birds (angry birds) it makes me smile.

Back to work

Sigh, back to work time. This afternoon Dave heads back up north for work. I'm not going to lie. Him being home for 4 weeks, I got spoiled. Just this morning I slept until 10am. That's virtually unheard of with a 3 year old. The sleep and help with said 3 year old has been amazing.

I'm on a mom board, and with Austin having a birthday so late in the year, most of the moms with 3 year olds are months ahead of me. The consensus is that the terrible 2's aren't so terrible. 3 is worse. I know that the first few months of 3 are great, then BAM! They turn into little jerks. Yup, Austin's hit that point. He does not want to listen and everything is answered with a "uh uh" "NO!" or "no way!" He is ignoring everything we say, and the other day started pushing our friend's daughter. We've never had a big issue with pushing, so this was a shock.

I'm counting down the days until Dave gets home again, because I'm sure these next 2 weeks will be full of time outs and deep breaths.

Conversations with a toddler

This morning I had quite the convo with Austin and as soon as we finished I thought man I have to write that one down. So, here you are. But warning: It contains poop talk.

I'm cleaning up a poopy bum.
A: bye bye poopy!
A: poop go back home?
Me: well, poop doesn't really have a home.
A: poop go play?
A: poop go eat?
Me: poop doesn't eat. The food you eat turns into poop.
A: why?
Me: because that's how your body works, it changes your food into poop.
A: oooohhhhhhhhhhhhhh wow!

A Sunday tale

Our Sunday was lots of fun!! Oh wait, go back, start again, and read that with the most sarcasm you can think of. It started off well.

We headed down to ikea for shopping and lunch. We started out well. Lunch ended with someone not wanting to sit and spitting meatballs on the floor. I promise you that was not me. Then, that same pint sized cranky pants started, wait, continued with his disapproving no face, and pointedly told me that mommy is not cool enough to push the cart.

After we made a few stops for the spare bedroom renos. Well let me tell you. That's when the true fun starts. At Rona, he decided to pull paint brushes off the shelf. Wandered around trying to pull all the paint chips off the shelf. In the paint roller aisle he got mad at me and hit me with his puppy dog. I took it away, he cried. I said we had to move down the aisle and he refused. I had to pull him along.

Then we go to home depot. Again with the damn paint chips, he decided that he didn't want to walk down the aisle and thought if he threw himself down on the ground it would work. It didn't. I just dragged him down the aisle. I finally get what I needed, waiting to leave, pick up Austin so he would stop running away. Well when I picked him up it must have shifted his pullup because there in home depot, my son pissed on me. Sigh. So we go to leave and it is raining like there's no tomorrow. Here I am, running through the rain, my side covered in pee, austin's pants soaked, and trying to carry everything.

After that it was home dinner bath and bed. Oh what a day. Now my forearm is hurting and I'm trying to figure if it's from the stupid goofy carts from ikea or if it's from dragging my son through the home depot. Oh what a day.
